Description

We are excited to share with you that Show Hope’s Hope for the Journey Conference is coming to Woodside Bible Church-Troy for a two-day event in April. The Hope for the Journey Conference (formerly the Empower to Connect Conference) is designed to equip and encourage parents and caregivers meeting the needs of children impacted by adoption and/or foster care. The conference brings together teaching, resources and practical experiences to assist parents, caregivers, schools, churches and similar organizations in gaining a deeper understanding of these children’s needs. The conference features 5 modules based upon the research and teaching of Dr. Karyn Purvis, the co-creator of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). Here are the teaching modules: · Module 1: An Introduction to Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) · Module 2: Connecting Principles · Module 3: Empowering Principles · Module 4: Correcting Principles · Module 5: The Gospel+TBRI Also included with each module is a “Going Deeper” teaching video on a select topic as well as a “Practical Perspective” video featuring the voices of adoptive and/or foster families or adult adoptees and/or foster youth alum. The goal of this training is to help children and youth from “hard places,” those who have experience abuse, neglect and/or trauma, learn to trust and build deep emotional connections to anchor and empower them. Dates and Times: April 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. – Module 1 April 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Modules 2-5 Location: Woodside Bible Church (6600 Rochester Road, Troy, Michigan 48085) Cost: $10 per person, includes training materials, lunch and refreshments Certificates will be available at the end of conference for training credits. We hope you will join us. And feel free to share this email with anyone that works with children and might benefit from this training which is co-sponsored by Christian Family Services and Woodside Bible Church.
