Join chocolate expert Lauren Adler for a guided chocolate tasting and learn about an exciting chocolate-themed adventure to Ecuador offered by Global Family Travels this Summer. Chocolate Tasting: During the chocolate tasting, you’ll discover the unique flavor profiles of different cacao-growing regions while tasting fine chocolate from around the world. We'll taste five single-origin chocolates and compare them with a mass market brand. You'll walk away with an understanding of how chocolate is made from the bean, what elements contribute to flavor in cacao and chocolate and how to read ingredient labels when evaluating chocolate for purchase.   Ecuador Chocolate Expedition: Not only does Ecuador have an ancient cacao tradition that dates back centuries, but it is home to a vibrant, modern craft chocolate scene that offers excellent cacao and chocolate to taste and enjoy. Global Family Travels has both a small group Chocolate Expedition to Ecuador in late July/August, and custom dates, which are filled with culturally immersive experiences. On our Ecuador adventure, we visit the cloud forest of Mindo and the jungles of the Amazon in search of cacao and chocolate, and we'll enjoy great food and chocolate in Ecuador's urban metropolis, Quito. There will be a lot of chocolate to taste along the way, including some of the most expensive chocolate in the world. This is a great adventure for chocolate lovers who want to immerse in the history and farming of cacao while also experiencing Ecuador's unique history. After our chocolate tasting, we will briefly share information about this adventure to Ecuador, which gives travelers the opportunity to learn about cacao growing and chocolate making from passionate farmers who are committed to preserving Ecuador’s renowned arriba nacional cacao varietal using sustainable agricultural practices, and fine chocolate makers who honor ancient traditions of this vibrant country. About Lauren Adler : Lauren is a pioneer in the craft chocolate industry with over a decade of experience introducing consumers to fine chocolate. She was the founder of Seattle retail store Chocolopolis and she currently serves as the President of the Board of the Fine Chocolate Industry Association (FCIA), a non-profit organization that promotes quality, innovation, ethical sourcing, and best practices in the fine chocolate industry. She has been a speaker and panelist at numerous FCIA conferences, the Fancy Food Show, the Northwest Chocolate Festival and the Dallas Chocolate Festival and a chocolate judge for the International Chocolate Awards, the Good Food Awards, and the Northwest Chocolate Festival.
