Hello Hart School Advisory Board! We are so excited for you to come to Harrisonburg for the Advisory Board Conference beginning Thursday, April 20th. We have a variety of events lined up for you all in addition to the Advisory Board meeting. Below is the layout of the schedule; please sign up for a ticket for each of the events that you will be attending so we are able to get an accurate head count. Thursday, April 20th A room block for this weekend has been provided through Hotel Madison. Please note the room block will be valid through Monday, March 20th. Reservations should be made by individuals directly with the Hotel Reservations Department HERE. Day of Service Project (12:30 - 4:30pm) - Hart School Advisory Board members are invited to join faculty, staff, and students as we live our core values by serving our community. This year's community partner is Camp Still Meadows, a charitable nonprofit organization which provides activities for children and adults with development and/or physical disabilities in a safe, creative environment. Your RSVP is kindly required for participation in this event. Registration for this event must be done separately and can be found HERE Welcome Happy Hour (5:30 - 7:00pm) - Advisory Board members arriving early on Thursday are invited to join the Hart School faculty for an informal Happy Hour at Quills Casual Dining and Bar located within Hotel Madison. Dinner with Faculty (7:00pm) - Following the Happy Hour will be dinner at the Montpelier Restaurant & Bar located within Hotel Madison. Your RSVP is kindly required for participation in this event. Friday, April 21st Breakfast & Student Showcase (8:00 - 9:30am) - Enjoy breakfast with current Hart School students followed by the Student Showcase. Here you'll learn about Hart School Student Organizations and the exceptional student experiences offered this year. Your RSVP is kindly required for participation in this event. Advisory Board Meeting (9:45am - 12:30pm) - This will consist of (1) Advisory Board general business and updates (9:45am - 10:30am); (2) sub-committee reports (10:30am - 11:30am); and (3) outcomes and conclusions (11:45am - 12:30pm). A remote option will be made available to those wishing to participate but unable to attend in person. Your RSVP is kindly required for participation in this event. Lunch with Students (12:45 - 2:00pm) - Enjoy lunch while connecting and engaging with current Hart School students. Your RSVP is kindly required for participation in this event. Optional Afternoon Activities for Friday include: A tour of campus (2:30 - 3:30pm) and access to the University Recreation Center (UREC) (3:00-7:00pm). Your RSVP for a campus tour is kindly required for participation in this event. Passes to UREC will be made available upon request. Pop-up Dinner hosted by Hart School Faculty Tassie Pippert (6:00pm) - Featuring international cuisine, this experience will include hors d 'Oeuvres, a four-course meal , and accompanied wine pairing. Please note that tickets for this event must be purchased and registered for on your own. Tickets are $150.00 per person and proceeds will benefit the Marrin-Pippert Scholarship for Hart School Study Abroad. Tickets for this event have not yet been made available for purchase. Information on how to register for this event will be revealed shortly. Saturday, April 22nd Optional Afternoon Activities for Saturday include: Depending on interest levels, we will be organizing and/or offering a tickets to the JMU spring football game (1:00pm). Rocktown Beer & Music Festival (3:00pm) - Celebrate good beer, good living, good music and a great community at the Rocktown Beer & Music Festival located in downtown Harrisonburg. Please note that tickets for this event must be purchased and registered for on your own. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
