Athletes will receive 10 tickets for attending the mock comp portion, and 10 additional if they attend the training camp portion! ***You must attend TWO OR MORE of the qualifying events to be able to attend the championship. The championship will be onsight format and will have an award ceremony, including all-season awards! VolunteeringYou may not know this but all climbing comps are primarily run by volunteers. As such, we need YOU to volunteer! Here are some things to consider: - The comp can't happen without volunteers. In fact, if there are not sufficient volunteers then the comp end time could be extended and/or the number of boulders may be reduced to get all athletes through. - We will try to accommodate when your kids climb to the extent possible. Just indicate your athlete's category and climb time. - Don't worry if you've never done it; we will train you! - Space for spectators is limited. The best way to get to see your athlete climb is to volunteer! - You’ll learn what a “dyno” and “gaston” mean and have some climbing lingo at the ready! Sign Up Here Format - The competition portion will be onsight format, and competitors will have 4 boulder problems. Competitors will have 4 minutes per boulder. - The training camp portion of this event will take place after the mock comp. Athletes will review their boulders with coaches and work on essential skills specific to onsight-format climbing. - Judges will be positioned with each boulder during the mock comp to record scores as the athletes go through the round. - The mock comp will be scored for athletes' reference, but scores will not count towards the season team score. Categories Competitors will be divided by birth year and gender for placement. The age category breakdown is as follows by birth year: - Category 1: Born in 2015 or later (youngest) - Category 2: Born in 2013-2014 - Category 3: Born in 2010-2012 - Category 4: Born in 2007-2009 - Category 5: Born in 2006 and earlier (oldest) Reminder - everyone who will be in attendance (whether or not they are climbing) NEEDS a 2023 waiver on file!
