Do you have a screenplay idea but aren't sure how to get it made into a film? Practice your pitch with us! A panel of successful screenwriters and producers will share insights and strategies for getting your screenplay in front of the right people and refining your pitch. Our guests: Tasha Henderson is a writer and producer from Dallas, Texas. She received her B.A. in Film Studies from Oklahoma State University before earning her MFA at the School of Film and Television at Loyola Marymount University. She was one of 13 writers accepted to the Disney Writers program in 2020. She was the co-writer of the short film Labyrinth, winner of the CineCause Women’s Initiative and the Britt Penrod Audience Award. She co-wrote and produced complex[ion] woman, a play that explores the intricacies of Black womanhood, which won the Encore Producer’s Award at the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Henderson was a writer on the web series Hard Medicine, which aired on the Urban Movie Channel, and wrote and produced her reality TV web series Dating Now. She is currently a writer for the ABC series Home Economics. Dylan Brodie is from Ramona, Oklahoma - Population: 500. He began editing films in 2008, slowly making his way from local to national film festivals, which led to work on Food Network productions and feature films for both Magnet Releasing and Blumhouse Productions. He later served as Unit Production Manager and Associate Producer on Sterlin Harjo's feature film, “Mekko,” and produced the series “Flipping The Heartland” for HGTV. Dylan has worked on shows of all sizes including the STARZ TV series “American Gods,” feature films “The Mule” (starring Clint Eastwood), “Stillwater” (starring Matt Damon) and “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.” He has been the UPM on commercials for various companies including 2K Sports, Dish Network, and Warstic baseball bats featuring Jack White. Dylan continues to produce and production manage diverse projects and most recently served as UPM for the Oscar winning A24/Plan B film “Minari” and is Associate Producer on the Disney/FX television series “Reservation Dogs". Migizi Pensoneau (Ponca/Ojibwe) was born and raised in Minnesota, and attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut. Migizi has worked for both major and independent production companies as a writer and a producer for film and television. He is the recipient of awards, commissions, fellowships, and grants from ABC/Disney, The Institute of American Indian Arts, the Sundance Institute, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (with the 1491s, where they received a commission to do an original play, “Between Two Knees”), among others. Migizi has also covered scripts for Warner Brothers and the Sundance institute, and has written several published pieces on the interaction of Native Americans and popular culture. He received his MFA in Screenwriting at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM, and continues to write and tour for the popular comic group he co-founded, the 1491s. Migizi most recently finished writing on Barkskins, an original series by Fox and NatGeo, and Reservation Dogs, a comedy on FX.
