Description

From dungeons and dragons to a galaxy far, far away, science fiction and fantasy stories have always inspired us and captured our attention. In this 6-week course for adult learners, we will review what makes science fiction and fantasy so captivating. Through examination of classic and modern texts and through our own generative prompts, we will create and polish our own speculative stories. Students will have a chance to share and workshop their own work, as well as plenty of time to generate new work. Classes are every Wednesday night, 6pm-7:30pm, April 5th through May 10th in person at Mt. Pleasant Library. Register through Eventbrite to sign up for the course. Please sign up only if you plan on attending all six classes. Meet Your Instructor: Marissa Gallerani is a writer and teacher living in Providence, RI. A lifelong writer and reader, Marissa completed her MFA in fiction at The Newport MFA at Salve Regina. Her work has appeared in The Harvard Review, The Financial Diet, and broadcast on The Public’s Radio. She is currently at work on a science-fantasy novel.
