Engagement strategies are the single most impactful teaching tool to ensure student success. During the course, participants will experience how a variety of instructional strategies are conducted. The class will utilize discussion and reflection techniques so that participants can experience the following high impact strategies from a student lens:
Cooperative Learning Strategies Recording & Processing ContentChunking Total ParticipationMovement At the conclusion of the instructional time, participants will be able to consider implementation in a hands on workshop, where they can gain feedback and collaborate with peers.
Course Objectives:
Assess a variety of instructional strategies and considerations in planning and preparation with hands-on learning experiences.Analyze the effectiveness of instructional strategies as a student and document experiences.Define instructional strategy, engagement and Hattie Effect SizeDevelop a personal mission statement for work as a an EMS Instructor.Create a lesson in which you integrate a class starter, one new instructional strategy, and one formative assessment.About the Instructor

After several years of teaching high school English, Brittany began her time as an Instructional Coach in January of 2022. She works with teachers to implement research-proven strategies to improve student engagement and performance in the classroom.
2 hours of PA EMS continuing education is offered for all attendees.
