The Sarasota African American Cultural Coalition is happy to co-host CONNECT in partnership with Circle the Sun Fitness. We invite you to join Circle the Sun Fitness co-owner Key Fitch at Ringling's Mable's Rose Garden (5401 Bay Shore Road) Saturday, April 8 at 11 am for 30 minutes of a warm-up, gentle functional movement, and a cooldown with stretching session followed by free entry into the museum. Bring a mat, towel (optional), and water.
Spotlighted is a documentary about local Black businesses produced by Glimpse of the Artist participant Sean Presley. Fitch is an entrepreneur and community engager who creates healthier communities by providing services and programs that promote nutritional excellence, enhanced functional strength, awareness, and overall mental wellness. The purpose of the exhibition Glimpse of the Artist: A Community Celebration is to showcase the work of Newtown artists and their love for the community.
Audiences are invited to interact with artists Sean Presley, Clifford McDonald, and Gregory Rumph, as well as selected pieces by a Booker Elementary School third-grade class; and community organizers Jetson Grimes and Mary Mack. You're invited to participate in a free movement class after viewing the 2-D experience.
"Our goal is to expand the exhibition outside of the museum's walls," said La'Tiara Love, co-curator of the Glimpse exhibition. "Come prepared to learn about Sarasota's rich history, move your body, get lost in art, and feel the heartbeat of this vibrant community (plus there's cool merch to take home)," Love added.
