Lace up your combat boots or pop out the summer rave gear a little early for an evening of untraditional sights and sounds in Frandor’s Shopping Center. This year, the film festival party lords resurrected the shuttered Sears building to summon cinephiles, music snobs, and scene queens alike to celebrate its 11th(ish) year as Michigan's premier international film festival. As the culminating event for the Capital City Film Festival, DISSONANCE opens with cinematic poetry readings backed by afrofuturist quartet Cash & The Loud Pack. Just before midnight, Detroit-based indie darlings, Decliner, take the main stage. The techno punk trio have shared the stage with acts such as Iceage, Show Me the Body, HO99O9, VR SEX. Working to merge punk energy with the textures and structures of dance music, Decliner has found a place within the ether that appeals to disco divas and honky-tonks alike. Guests are invited to wander through the warehouse and art gallery exhibition, gaze at CCFF memorabilia and order from local food trucks.
