The Community Wellness Council (CWC) is your Health Council serving Valencia County—one of the state’s 40+ health councils authorized by the legislature to monitor community health status and advise policymakers on changes needed. Made up of involved community members, the CWC pinpoints key needs for change and prepares Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIP), working with other local community groups to address needs and improve local health. “The community-based focus that health councils have is significant because they are run by and for the communities that they serve.” This year, the CWC, with you, has a major opportunity—the first in 5 years—to contribute our voice and views to the development of the State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP), which drives health actions that will affect us all. We’re inviting as many of you as possible to take part in our upcoming March 28th CHIP session, to provide us with your thoughts and concerns—and to help plan our Community Health Improvement Plan—which will inform the SHIP! We hope to see Valencians from all walks of life who care about their community well-being take part in this thought-provoking session. We hope you will be a member who helps make the mission of this health council a reality.
