Since 1973, Southern Illinois University School of Law––an institution established in the public interest -- has been serving the public good. The School of Law has been dedicated to educating and training future officers of the court and has brought a large legal presence to the Southern Illinois area and beyond. Throughout the last fifty years, the School of Law has faced challenge, growth, and success. One thing that has remained constant throughout the years, however, is the school’s mission to serve the public good. Over the years, the law school has expanded its course load, experiential opportunities, and initiatives to continue to effectively prepare its students for practice. As the legal industry changes and develops, so must the curriculum and opportunities provided by the School of Law.
This Symposium will reflect on the history and successes of the School of Law through panels and speakers providing insight, personal reflections and experiences, and plans for the future of Southern Illinois University. Join us on April 14, 2023 as we walk through the past fifty years of legal education and proudly celebrate Southern Illinois University School of Law’s golden birthday!
Lunch will be provided, and there will be a reception following the event.
