Description

Join us at the Miller House for a lecture on Sunday, April 16, from 1:00-3:00 PM, as Bill Maharay speaks about his journey of restoring the Cost-Hitt House in Keedysville, MD. Our series, "Sundays in the Parlor: Our History Restored," shares the history and restoration of historical homes in Washington County. An individual ticket includes a Sunday lecture at the Miller House parlor and a tour of a historic house on the following Saturday. Portions of the historic Cost-Hitt House in Keedysville date to 1790, and it saw use as a field hospital during the Battle of Antietam in 1862. Bill will share the exciting story of the house's two conservation efforts (the second due to unforeseen events), as well as his journey and recommendations for historic restoration work. After the lecture on April 16, join Bill on Saturday, April 22, for an in-person tour of the Cost-Hitt House at 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, or 4:00 PM. The historic home's address will be provided following the lecture, and guests can register for tour times following the purchase of a ticket by calling the WCHS at (301) 797-8782 or at the lecture on April 16.
