By attending this face-to-face CE event, participants will deepen their knowledge of the NASW Code of Ethics concepts pertaining to client rights and will learn to use critical thinking and professional judgment concerning ethical dilemmas through case discussion and review of the ethical and legal obligations of the profession. Ethical versus legal obligations for social workers as well as what situations warrant removing clients' access to specific rights will be discussed. Finally, participants will gain an understanding of channels to utilize when ethical dilemmas arise regarding clients' rights. Registration begins at 12:30 pm. This event is scheduled for the Student Union Theatre, close to Friendship Circle and McGehee Drive. About the presenter: Jessica Wilkes is a licensed clinical social worker serving southeast Louisiana. She received her BSW from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2012 and her MSW from Louisiana State University's advanced standing program in 2014. She has worked in several fields of social work including child welfare, acute medical and emergency room, hospice, intensive outpatient, and private practice, and is most recently a graduate research assistant, working with a grant-funded program called Educate, Stimulate, Graduate Initiative. Jessica is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at Louisiana State University School of Social Work.
