Description

Dr. Joey Weber is a University Lecturer in Health and Social Care and his PhD thesis focuses on understanding and overcoming the barriers to equanimity to improve mental health and wellbeing. Joey spent his formative years living in a residential center for Tibetan Buddhist Studies, and equanimity has been his professional research focus for the past seven years. Dr. Joey developed and validated one of the world's first psychometric scales that solely focuses on equanimity - The Equanimity Barriers Scale [EBS] in 2018. His research (spanning 6 years) includes operational definitions of inner and outer equanimity relevant for clinical psychology, theoretical models of judgement and the validation of the EBS. He has recently published a book entitled "Why Mindfulness is Not Enough," which is an overview of his research and includes case studies and guided meditations in order to bring equanimity down from the mystical and into the lap of the practical. Dr Joey is a long-term practitioner, spent his early years living in a Tibetan monastic community and believes he has designed a model for everyone to cultivate equanimity. The Equanamee method helps individuals and groups unpack why we discriminate and how to find compassion. Dr Joey is dedicated to instructing businesses and individuals seeking to improve themselves and their empathy and compassion using the Equanamee method. The method is made up of self-assessment of the Equanimity Barriers Scale, implementing the 7-step method and guided meditations.
