Time with nature teaches us empathy, compassion, resilience, reciprocity, and intentionality. Time with nature teaches us patience, communication, mindfulness, and stewardship. To learn to live in agreement with the land is to live in reciprocity and harmony with the natural world as both kin and steward.
In this class you will learn:
- about Land Acknowledgements
- to ground to the Earth
- to recognize how our personal energy feels
- the Indigenous concept of animism
- to feel the energy of our plant relatives
- to communicate with nature around us
- about wildtending, including the history benefits, ethics, safety, identification, regenerative practices, and more
- how to give offerings and ask permission of the plants you want to harvest
- How, What, When, and Where to harvest/wildtend
You will also participate in a field expedition and community lunch.
This class is open to ages 17+
Dress in rugged clothes you don't mind getting dirty, close-toed shoes that are easy to slip off, and bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and insect repellant.
Water and snacks will be provided but be sure to bring yourself a sack lunch! We will be making a foraged salad and an herbal dressing to go with our sack lunches!
Cost: This is a free class but please bring an offering for the community land altar. Appropriate offerings include: flowers, incense, pretty rocks, feathers, etc.
