Behind the Seams is a monthly series that provides in person connection with fashion professionals to cultivate community and motivate collaboration to stimulate economic growth for Atlanta’s fashion industry. This two-part community event begins with an intentional networking session followed by an unfiltered, raw and real conversation with a featured industry leader. By sharing what inspires us, we hope to inspire one another to create more authentic ways for brands and individuals to connect and grow their fashion businesses in our city. Whether you're looking to hone in on your craft, gain access to resources, or just get inspired by others, this event series is perfect for anyone who wants to connect and collaborate with Atlanta's vibrant fashion community. Guest Speaker, Taylor Long - International Model, Designer and Entrepreneur Model, Designer, Entrepreneur and Size-Inclusivity Advocate @taylorpaigelong of @nomadsswimwear Based in Atlanta, Taylor has modeled for major brands from Soma to Target. Working as a model in an industry that deems anything over a size 4 as “curve or plus-size" sparked her desire to become a size-inclusivity advocate for women through fashion design and public speaking. In July of 2020, Taylor launched Nomads, a destination-inspired brand that creates sustainable, size-inclusive swim and resort wear for sizes XS-5X. Nomads is working to become fully sustainable with it's newest collections being made in women-owned factory in LA using cutting-edge biodegradable fabrics. Since its launch, Nomads has been featured by Forbes, Instyle, and Harper's Bazaar and has become a breakout brand in the size-inclusive swim space. Taylor has been named one of the “Female Fashion Designers You Should Know” by Essence Magazine.
