Beertopia's Beer School is back for 2023 with a Sunday afternoon Winter Session so you don't have to totally give up your Sunday Funday! Ever wondered about beer cultures around the world? Curious as to why it's called an IPA? Question why Russian Imperial Stouts were created? Find yourself perplexed by the difference between a Belgian Double, Trippel and Quadruple? Or maybe you want to explore some of the more rare and unusual beer styles? Then Beer School is for you!! Besides, what other educational class do you know requires beer drinking? It's almost as fun as watching football on a Sunday afternoon! Starting on Sunday, February 26th and continuing on the following Sundays for 7 weeks (No class will be held on Easter Sunday, April 9th), our extremely popular Beer School is back for Omaha's beer-fans to learn more about this historic frothy libation with a new day and time and a field trip! Sign up for one session, only the sessions that interest you most, or attend all 7 and earn yourself a Beertopia Beer School Diploma! Register via Eventbrite by clicking the "Get Tickets" link above. Classes are only $30 each session and includes 10 4oz samples (or equivalent) and snacks each week. Week 1 will be heald at the Infusion Brewing Company Southwest, and week 7 is $a "field trip" by bus as we visit locations around Omaha! Classes are limited to 20 people and fill up quick, so don't wait! February 26, 2023 • How Beer Is Made - Hosted at Infusion Brewing Company Southwest - 6271 S 118th Street; Omaha, NE 68137 - Step into the mind of a brewer and learn how ingredients used in the brewing process create the flavors in your beer, as well as the basics into how beer is brewed. This course will lay the foundation for the weeks following as we taste beers from major brewing sources around the world. March 5th, 2023 • Beers of the United Kingdom - (held in Max & Joe's Tavern and Tasting Room) The great grandfather of many American beer styles, get back to your beers roots. No bollocks here! March 12, 2023 • Biers of Germany & the Czech Republic (held in Huber Haus German Bier Hall) - Learn how these old world beers played a large part to the post prohibition era of beer in America, and in much of the word. Prost! March 19, 2023 • Beers of the United States (held in Max & Joe's Tavern and Tasting Room) - America is no longer seen as just lowly brewers of boring pale lagers, but as innovators creating a brewing scene that is redefining craft beer around the world! Taste how those styles are changing the face of brewing today. USA! USA! USA! March 26, 2023 • Beers of Belgium (held in Max & Joe's Tavern and Tasting Room) - Taste the "Disneyland of Beer Styles" and one of the worlds more eclectic brewing regions. As one of the first international "Beercation" destinations for many. Taste why Belgium has became so popular. April 2, 2023 • Specialty Beer Styles (held in Max & Joe's Tavern and Tasting Room) - With over 20,000 beer styles in the world it no wonder we can't fit them all into each session. Tasting those Rare and Unusual styles that you may have never heard of will make up the theme of the night. April 16, 2023 • Beer Town USA (meet in Max & Joe's Tavern and Tasting Room to board our beer school bus) - The History of Omaha Breweries with Omaha Beer Historian, and owner of Beer Corner USA & Infusion Brewing Company, Bill Baburek - Omaha has been a beer town since it was first incorporated, and on the final afternoon of Beer School, we board a school bus and explore the River City's long love affair with this frothy goodness visiting locations of former breweries, with beer on the bus, and a stop for pizza included.
