Filmmakers Madison Cavalchire, Charles Watson, Madison Hill, Yasaman Baghban, and Laura Asherman are thrilled to invite you to their joint thesis film screening and panel discussion on Friday, April 7th at 7 pm at the Nasher Museum of Art. Fire & Flood , dir. Madison Cavalchire: After repeated natural disasters, a small North Carolina town dwindles down to a double-digit population. Fire & Flood captures the resilient spirit of Seven Springs and the community that is fighting to keep it afloat, against all odds.The Glass Evangelist, dir. Charles Watson: The Glass Evangelist is a multimedia essay which examines the duality of glass as both an artistic expression and a scientific matter, as seen through the lens of the Littleton family of Western North Carolina. Fallout, dir. Madison Hill: As community members in a rural Appalachian town become sick, the source of the contagion is called into question. (My) Heterotopia as (a) Woman, dir. Yasaman Baghban: (My) Heterotopia as (a) Woman is a film about the feeling of eternal otherness experienced by women, whether they be citizens or foreigners. Imagine the fidgeting woman in a cell constantly asking, ‘why don’t I deserve genuine freedom?’ The Dumpster Dive, dir. Laura Asherman: Cockroach news hosts Howard Scourge and Madison Von Vermin report on how microplastics may just have dire consequences for their species' biggest nuisance: humans.Seating will begin at 6:30 pm.
