Description

About the SiteThe River needs YOU! This April, join FoLAR in the Glendale Narrows to collect trash and prevent waste from polluting our watershed and urban waterways. Together, we’ll make a collective impact and do our part to tend to the vibrant urban ecosystems that thrive throughout our region. Lewis MacAdams Riverfront Park, named in honor of our founder, is a beautiful park located along the LA River Greenway and Bike Path in the Elysian Valley. The Park features a sculpture to honor Lewis MacAdams, the father of the River Movement and one of the River's most influential advocates. The River has a natural bottom here, and you'll be sure to find a Heron perching on a willow tree or a Red-Tailed Hawk soaring above. CleanUp volunteers will also get the opportunity to learn more about the River and its wildlife inhabitants through Education Activities and Nature Walks offered every hour at Marsh Park. CleanUp supplies (work gloves and trash bags), hand sanitizer, and a water station are provided. What to Wear & BringThere are areas of this site where you may need to wade into the water in order to access the island that we’ll be cleaning, so wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes you don’t mind getting wet, or boots or water shoes if you have them. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen and a hat. We’re providing CleanUp supplies, so all you need to bring is a reusable water bottle - we’ll have ice water available onsite. ParkingParking in the Elysian Valley is extremely limited, so help FoLAR be good neighbors to Elysian Valley residents and consider carpooling, ridesharing, or biking to the event.
