DAY ONE Session #1 – It's All About the Talent: Creating a Tech Base for the Future Growing the talent pool and pipeline is critical to ensuring West Michgian's economic future. Leaders from Gentex, AEBetancourt, Michigan Department of Labor, Corewell Health, and West Michigan Tech Council explore what strategies of talent attraction, retention and reskilling can best ensure that future empowers everyone. Dr. Fatma Mili, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at GVSU, will deliver opening remarks. Session #2 – Opportunity Stories: Learning From Others What is needed to create a thriving tech community and what signals indicate we've achieved it? Leaders from Google, The Right Place, Ferris State University, and GVSU explore the opportunities that exist for West Michigan in terms of education, innovation partnerships and business growth and what can be learned from other communities that are actively moving towards a tech future. About the Series The 2023 Confluence Thought Series explores the community-wide effort to transform Grand Rapids into a regional tech hub. Over 20 leaders in education, talent development, public policy, and innovation partnerships explore the key variables likely to determine the effort’s success or failure. All sessions are free and open to the public but seating is limited so you must be registered to attend. All registered attendees will receive a complimentary parking pass for each day of the event.
