Description
South For Winter With a blend of dreamy acoustic duets, bluesy murder ballads & foot-stomping Folk, New Zealand-born and Nashville-based South for Winter sound is as eclectic as their origins. The band is composed of New Zealander Nick Stone, Colorado native Dani Cichon, and Michigander Alex Stradal, and together the three multi-instrumentalists and songwriters combine elements such as cello, guitar, mandolin, and three-part harmonies into a genre-bending sound described by American Songwriter as “impeccable.” After recording their debut album Luxumbra with GRAMMY award-winning producer Matt Leigh in Nashville and successfully crowdfunding its independent release in 2020, the trio began making a name for themselves with head-turning live performances, storytelling lyrics, and complex instrumentation. South for Winter have been chosen as a 2022 Official Showcase Artist at Folk Alliance International, 2021 DJ Pick by NYC's John Platt of WFUV, winner of the 2019 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival "Emerging Artist" showcase, and 2019 DJ Pick by Nashville's Lightning 100 Radio. Between touring throughout the United States, Canada, and New Zealand, the trio is back in the studio with Matt Leigh for their sophomore album, with the first single coming in Spring 2023. Hugh Trimble Hugh is a folk singer/songwriter and storyteller based in Nashville, Tennessee. Born in Eastern Europe to American journalists, Hugh lived in four different countries before his eighteenth birthday, but his career as a musician began in New York City. Inspired by the community of street performers in Central Park he adopted--and was adopted by--Hugh began writing and recording songs that paid homage to the rich and revolving cast of characters he fell in and out of love with on the road. Hugh’s songwriting & style has driven comparisons to the folk and American heavyweights of the 60s, but critics have lauded a voice that reinvents (rather than recalls) the genre. He has long been a master of collaboration and creative daring. One only needs to look at his resumé which includes fronting the acclaimed, genre-defying band Sisterman alongside Audrey MacAlpine (Sierra Ferrell). Though Sisterman is no more, two of its former members back Hugh on this new record. Hugh goes electric in his newest project, HUGH TRIMBLE & THE ATOMIC RANCH BAND, and his debut album is forthcoming.
