The Use of Interpretation Equipment This 1.5h workshop explains how to properly use interpretation equipment inside and outside of the courtroom. This workshop covers: Radio Frequency vs. Infrared Receivers – different models, set-up, and troubleshooting Portable Transmitters: Range, dual channel, interference, different microphones and advanced settings Alternate use of transmitters as a feed for the interpreterDigiWave – Why is it better and how to set it up?Stationary Transmitters – uses and settingsInterpreter Control Unit – controls on the face, side, and back of unitAt the conclusion of this workshop, participants will have enough information to setup, monitor, and troubleshoot the most commonly used equipment. Everton Morais is an independent legal interpreter, as well as, an experienced conference and diplomatic interpreter. Everton has been working with interpreting on a volunteer basis since 2000 at his local church, and began his professional career in 2009. In 2022 Everton developed a curriculum and started teaching a 7- week interpretation course at New Jersey City University. Currently, he works a nearly 50/50 mix of agency work and direct clients. His work has taken him as far as New Zealand in 2016, he has interpreted for vice presidents and presidents of Brazil and Angola, and worked in complex financial and oil platform international arbitrations.
