This course is designed to teach each students how to properly self-assess their skill level and utilize techniques to achieve sub-second proficiency with a high level of accuracy with a red dot or iron sighted pistol. MSP instructors will introduce students to the red dot platform and how to properly zero their optics, preferred gear selections with a pro/con discussion on student setups. Students will learn how to properly apply the leverage needed in their grip, while understanding the bodies mechanics, and how to use proprioceptive indexing for collecting and aiming their firearm, thus increasing their ability to achieve dot/sight predictability for fast, accurate hits more consistently. This one day course was developed for the committed shooter seeking the capability of high-performance shooting from themselves and their firearm, this course is also ideal for anyone who has reached their plateau and would like to surpass it. Students should have a base level of skill before attending this course. They should know how to load, unload, and reload their firearm safely. Students should also be familiar with the safe withdrawal of their firearm from their desired carry position. Students should also have a basic grasp of fundamental shooting techniques. Topics Covered: 1. Fundamentals of shooting a handgun with a red dot mounted on top. 2. Proprioceptive index and frenetic motion - how to self-assess one’s ability to build consistency in his/her performance. 3. Body mechanics and why they are crucial to performance. 4. Coach Backs/ Peer Review 5. Gear discussion: Pros and cons of holster selections. 6. Carry positions: IWB vs OWB vs AIWB debate and considerations. 7. How to obtain a sub-second draw from concealment from any position. 8. AGC standards and shot calling, MSP Black Belt Standards To attend the class students will need the following items: • A quality, reliable semi-automatic pistol with 3 to 5 magazines • A safe, quality holster (contact us if you have questions about what this is). Let us know if you need help sourcing ammunition we have plenty in-stock at Aaron's Gun Cabinet • All the usual appropriate PPE for the range: Ballistic eye protection, ear protection, a billed hat (such as a baseball cap), and weather-appropriate clothing. • A folding/camp chair, snacks, water, Gatorade, etc., are also recommended.
