This 2-hour certificate training is for veterans, military members, and families and will give attendees the skills and knowledge to intervene and potentially prevent a suicide using the following steps:
Question the individual's desire or intent regarding suicide.Persuade the person to seek and accept help.Refer the person to appropriate resources.This training is funded by the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP), an initiative of the Veterans Administration (VA). The initiative enables the VA to provide resources toward community-based suicide prevention efforts to meet the needs of Veterans and their families through outreach, suicide prevention services, and connection to VA and community resources. COSA's veteran services are available in the following counites:
Autauga, Bullock, Chambers, Choctaw, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Russell, Sumter, Tallapoosa and Wilcox
