Description

The manifestation of trauma is widely misunderstood and under-recognized. Trauma in childhood significantly disrupts the developing brain and can lead to life-long difficulty in regulation and attachment. Without an understanding of the neuroscience of the brain, symptoms of developmental trauma can be misdiagnosed as ADHD, ODD, PTSD, and other diagnoses that may actually hinder therapeutic progress. Participants in this training will learn some of the most common challenges in treating children with trauma and how to address the challenges effectively. Further, participants will be able to describe how trauma impacts the child’s attachment system and learn implications for attachment work in the family system. This training will be led by Andria Palmer, LCSW-C. Completion of this training is worth 4 CEU credits for counselors, social workers, and psychologists in the state of Maryland. This training will be offered virtually. Zoom details will be sent out as the event gets closer! Please note: you will only receive CEU credits if you attend the training live. We can not award home study CEU credits.
