Description

We will share our morning, engaging in the 8 principles of CCD- Christan Community Development, hearing from local practitioners working in community ministry in the Valley that we support, and reflecting together for community flourishing. The prophet Jeremiah says, "We work and pray for the well-being of our city (or neighborhood)." Come and explore together God's call to love our neighbors in spiritual and practical ways. Together we can partner alongside God and our neighbors in the places they are already working to bring shalom to our communities – aspiring to make them places where nothing is missing and nothing is broken.Presenters include Rudy Carrasco with the Murdock Trust in Vancouver, WA, and Lisa Ellis from Bethany. Rudy served on the Christian Community Development national board. Both Rudy and Lisa are on the CCDA Pacific Northwest Regional Network Leadership Team that began in 2021. Catholic Community Services of Western Washington will provide supportive services to the residents, with a focus on long-term stability. Martha’s Place will provide another housing choice for homeless households that have difficulty finding and qualifying for housing in the private market and that are seeking a supportive community. Almost ten years from the start to finish, this project has been made possible due to funding provided by the City of Mount Vernon, Skagit County, the Washington State Housing Trust Fund, and low-income housing tax credits as awarded by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission.
