Join us for a special screening of the new Hulu Original Documentary Aftershock (from Disney’s Onyx Collective and ABC News Studios). Directed by Paula Eiselt and Tonya Lewis Lee, Aftershock follows the deaths of two young women due to childbirth complications. Their bereaved families galvanize activists, birth workers, and physicians to reckon with one of the most pressing issues facing Americans today: the maternal health crisis.
Afterward, please join us for a special conversation with the the film’s subjects Bruce McIntyre, Nubia Earth Martin, midwife, and Myla Flores, doula.
Bruce McIntyre, Founder of saveArose Foundation (savearosefoundation.org) lost his partner, Amber Rose Isaac in 2020, while giving birth to their son. Bruce hopes to expose the injustices within the medical system, but also shares his gratitude for the film and its process in creating solutions to the black maternal health crisis. He further hopes that the film will show “the power of brotherhood and community…and educating people on the disparities in black maternal health and what we can do.”
