Change Makes Change! Join us for the inaugural Change Bowl - think Shark Tank meets community improvement project - on Saturday, April 1st! Timing Change Bowl - 1:00 - 3:00 PM - The Vine Arts & Events Center 225 W. Worth St., Grapevine Reception/Announcement of Funded Projects - 3:00 - 4:00 PM - House of Shine 334 S. Barton St. Grapevine Details Local students (8 - 18) will pitch their ideas (Shark Tank style) for improving their schools and/or community in front of community. Local community leaders will be our judges who will determine which ideas to fund and for how much. What are students learning through their commitment to this project? The Change Bowl is building confident, self-aware leaders who are building and improving their community. The high school students of House of Shine's Leadership Institute have committed to the creation, planning, and execution of this entire project. From the application rubric to the marketing, fundraising, applicant interviews, and ultimately the execution of the event itself, these high schoolers have facilitated the entire project.Local students (8-18 years) are given a platform to pitch their community improvement ideas, making their wish become a reality in the hopes that they will receive the funding to execute it. Their commitment to their dream gives them an identity, a sense of meaning and purpose, and an understanding of their character.The local community has committed to participate and support these change makers by collecting and donating change over the past several months to fund these community improvement projects.Special Thanks House of Shine was honored to receive a grant from The Mavs Foundation toward funding for the Change Bowl.
