Description
A girl’s ability to understand how money works is a necessary step in building financial confidence and making smart money decisions. Throughout a lifetime, women often face very different challenges in life that affect how they save, spend and invest their money; however most leave major financial decisions to their spouses. In this session, Jobana Semones with Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, will share information on why it is essential to learn basic money concepts early and best practices to start a healthy financial journey. She committed to empowering girls to ensure they are equipped with all the know-hows to be financially secure and self-reliant, including going over money conversations they need to have with their future partners before saying “I Do.” About the Facilitator? Jobana Semones is a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor and Community Development Executive leading the youth program at Piedmont Advantage Credit Union. She was born in Mexico, but was raised in Winston-Salem. Jobana is the primary facilitator for Money Y-Zer, the PACU Youth Program's financial learning series where children and teens in grades k-12 learn how and why to save; budget, manage and invest money; and avoid frauds, scams and predatory lending practices in the future. She is passionate about empowering our youth to build the confidence they need to make informed financial decisions throughout their lifetime. She is an artist and runs a small business, Jobana Impressions, where she creates portraits and live wedding paintings on the weekends. On her "free" time she enjoys spending time at home watching docu-series with her husband Justin. She is a cat person, but loves all animals. Who Are We? H.O.P.E.
