May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Too often, mental health issues are ignored, pushed aside, and hidden. People are embarrassed and feel isolated and alone. Studies have shown that 73% of people report that they have stress that affects their mental health. 73%! That's almost all of us, folks. So it's time to talk about it.
Join us for a full day of self-care, stress release, and unscripted talk about mental health. There will be speakers on topics such as stress and anxiety management, grief and trauma, overcoming addictions, the connection between mental health and physical wellbeing, and more.
There will be organizations and professional providers on site to help the community learn and connect. Vendors and authors will showcase their products and services. You can experience chair massages, Reikki sessions, guided meditations, Laughter Yoga, and more.
We will also be distributing the Mind Your Mental Health Toolkit, a resource guide filled with activities and exercises you can do at home to keep yourself mentally fit, as well as listings of mental health and wellness service providers around the Lowcountry. If you would like to be listed in the directory or provide content ($5), please email [email protected].
Swag Bags will be distributed to the first 20 folks in the door. Food trucks will be on site throughout the day.
