This is our first annual Colonial Lake Shake & Bait Youth Fishing Rodeo, partnered with the City of Charleston. This is a catch and release fishing rodeo where no fish will be weighed or measured. We will have rods and reels to borrow, bait, and everything you need to try your hands at fishing. Children 15 years of age or younger are allowed to participate in this event. We will have prize drawings towards the end of the fishing rodeo. So come out and fish, enjoy the outdoors, and make this a Fishing Fun Day!
Details for the event:
• What to bring: Dress is casual. Check the weather report and dress appropriately as you will be outside. Please bring your own rods and tackle if possible, but we will have a limited number of rod and reel combos to borrow. Terminal tackle such as hooks and swivels will be available to those that need it. Shrimp will be provided for bait but anglers are welcome to bring their own as well. Other items to consider bringing include a bucket for saltwater, chairs, hat, sunglasses, bug spray and a reusable water bottle.
• Costs: The event is free of charge.
• Weather: Event will be held rain or shine unless hazardous weather occurs.
• Parking: You can park along Colonial Lake or the surrounding streets. Make sure you check Google maps beforehand to see which streets are one way and where free parking is available.
• Prizes: Following fishing, we'll hold drawings for a variety of angler prizes. Anglers will receive a ticket upon check in. To reduce waste, those that bring a reusable water bottle will receive an additional ticket.
