Description

The Beginning Hide Tanning Workshop will be led by Ahtna Athabascan Master Artist Jessica Denny, who will teach participants the traditional Ahtna way of fleshing and scraping hides. This free workshop will be held at the Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC). We ask that attendees bring their own hide. If you do not have a hide, please contact Angie Demma, ANHC's Curator of Collections and Exhibits at [email protected], before registering for the workshop. Participants must agree to attend both days of the workshop to enroll. The workshop will take place on March 22nd and 23rd from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and attendance for the full day is mandatory. We welcome individuals under the age of 21 to join us and have reserved a few tickets for this age group. If you are under 21, please select the "Beginning Hide Tanning Workshop - 21 & Under" ticket type when registering. For more information, please contact Angie Demma at [email protected]. ANHC is supported in part by an American Rescue Plan grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support general operating expenses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
