The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and the National Shooting Sports Foundation are hosting a free First Shots Basic Handgun Clinic! This class is designed for new gun owners who have little or no experience shooting handguns and want to become more proficient and comfortable handling firearms. The clinic will take place on April 1, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lee Kay Public Shooting Range in Salt Lake City.
What to expect:
An introductory lesson from experts in a classroom setting.You will learn about the fundamentals of handgun shooting, including: gun safety, eye dominance, proper grip and stance, sight alignment and sight picture, breath control, trigger control and follow through, and proper storage. Range time with your firearm to practice the skills learned in the class. A clean, safe and professional environment with knowledgeable and friendly staff ready to assist new handgun owners.Things to remember:
Participants must be 16 years of age or older.You will need to bring a handgun and the correct ammunition.Bring eye and ear protection. You may purchase some at the event if you would like, but there will not be any available for free use.Dress comfortably. We have an outdoor range, so please dress appropriately for the weather.This clinic is intended for beginners with little or no previous handgun shooting experience, and the number of participants is limited.
