WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND My name is Nick McEvoy. And this is my fundraiser. This event is a bit unique. We will be raising money for cancer, yes. But we will be doing it in honor of my brother, Danny McEvoy, who passed tragically back in February of 2019. I recently beat cancer and I have decided to throw a little party in honor of him. Danny was born during the Kentucky Derby on May 7, 1988. So what better way to celebrate Danny's life than with a birthday bash during the Kentucky Derby to raise money for cancer?! Danny passed away on February 15, 2019 in a construction accident. I truly believe everything happens for reason. Fast forward 3 years later and I was diagnosed with cancer, on the exact day Danny left us. The news that I had stage 3 testicular cancer was nothing short of scary, but I knew I was going to beat it, I had Danny looking down on me. From that day my life changed drastically, but all for the better. I underwent 4 cycles of chemotherapy and 3 surgeries in 5 months. But with Danny looking down and the amazing staff at Brigham and Woman and Dana Farber, I am here to tell my story. I am here to give back! My family and I are proud to be hosting the event at The Gavel Public House in Wrentham. We have also teamed up with TJ from Parker's Pub in Wrentham. TJ will be cooking up a pig! The Daybreakers Band will also be supplying the tunes. The event will also feature a drawing with lots of great prizes to take home. All proceeds will be donated to DFCI-Milford via the Jimmy Fund. Tickets to the Pigroast will be $25. Ticket includes food and 1 drink(domestic beer or well spirit with proper ID). The event will be held on May 6 from 4-7PM on the patio outback at The Gavel.
