Description

Objective. To provide a comprehensive painting course for beginners to learn and improve their painting skills, while also allowing experienced painters to develop their technique and style. Duration of classes: 2 hours per class. Frequency of classes. Once a week for 6-8 weeks. Location. Art studio or classroom. Cost: $25 per class or $30 for the whole course. Drawing class outline. Session 1: Introduction to painting Overview of painting techniques and materials Introduction to colour theory and mixing Practical exercises to familiarise yourself with painting materials and techniques Section 2: Still life painting Introduction to the techniques of still life painting Demonstration and practice of composition, lighting and colour mixing Discussion and critique of students' work Section 3: Landscape painting Introduction to the techniques of landscape painting Demonstration and practice of perspective, colour and texture Discuss and critique students' work Section 4: Portraiture Introduction to the techniques of portraiture Demonstration and practice of facial proportions, lighting and colour palette Discuss and critique students' work Section 5: Abstract Painting Introduction to the techniques of abstract painting Demonstration and practice of composition, colour and texture Discuss and critique students' work Section 6: Painting Criticism and Review Final review and critique of student work Discussion and feedback on individual progress and areas for improvement Presentation of certificates of completion for successful students Additional benefits.
