Come on out and join me with (and at) the Forest Preserves of Cook County at the Sauk Trail Woods! Sauk Trail Woods has something for everyone! As we ride along the trails, we will roll up hills and down through valleys and even over bridges! Sauk Trail is part of the Thorn Creek Trail System with picnic groves, shaded giant oak trees, and a 29-acre lake for fishing and spotting migratory birds. Sauk Trails represent the "History of Movement" of the Underground Railroad through Chicago Heights, IL surrounded by the forest Preserves of Cook County. As we ride along the trail, we will uncover the history of the trails and Chicago Heights, IL. We'll ride along "The History of Movement." We're starting early so be sure to wear your layers so you can peel off a layer once you start riding. (It may be a little chiller at 7:30 a.m.) We are going to start at the entrance at the central lot and ride at a moderate pace (18-15 mph) around the 5.0 mile paved loop. *If we see animals and birds we can always stop to observe. Remember: Bring your helmet, water, snack, camera phone and if you have them, binoculars. **Please LMK if you do not have a helmet (I have three extra). Note:Check your bike tires before the ride. I will have a universal bike pump, but will not have a bike repair kit. THIS IS A FREE EVENT. All ages and fitness levels are welcome.
