Event Keynote Speaker and host of the event Sade' Cannon spent 7 1/2 years in federal prison. She is the owner of Cornerstone Community Center a 501(c3 organization created to help children in At Risk Communities with community resources such as mentoring programs, youth peer support and mental health resources. She helps find solutions that will help keep children out of Juvenile Detention Centers, Cemeteries, and in school defying the odds. Guest Keynote Speaker John Bunn a man wrongfully convicted of a murder committed in 1991, when he was 14. Bunn spent over 16 years in prison and nearly 12 on parole before he was exonerated in 2018. After his release, Bunn founded a nonprofit that aims to educate incarcerated youth and provide access to books to promote literacy. Guest Keynote speaker Kriste Puckett is a civil rights activist and the Smart Justice Manager for American Civil Liberties Union for North Carolina. She’s a working scholar in mass incarceration with a focus on the treatment of women in carceral facilities. Puckett-William has actively participated and protested with Jail Support, an organization that formed in response to the George Floyd protests in Charlotte, North Carolina. Additionally she serves as the Chair of Women in Incarceration Workgroup for the State Reentry Council Collaborative.
