Description
A new film, Good Natured: Cyanotypes has been designed to be projection mapped and specifically fit the Norris Community Center building with its two architectural peaks which are approximately 25-30 feet high. This nightime exhibit and poetic film is part of artist and filmmaker, Lori Ersolmaz's goal to captivate residents and guests in a compelling way, inspiring them to protect and preserve the natural beauty surrounding us in SWFL.” Cyanotypes is the seventh in the Internationally award-winning Good Natured series — all which focus on eco-poetry. The Good Natured series often includes contemporary or classic poetry, however this film is purely visual poetry. Good Natured Cyanotypes illustrates the beauty of water with abstract animations of botanical British algae, better known as seaweed. In the mid 1800s botanist Anna Atkins used the cyanotypes photographic blueprinting process to document over 400 unique plant specimens for a multi-volume publication. While the outdoor amphitheater side of the Norris Community Center is set back from the road the projection mapping can be seen from the street and Naples City Hall. Douglas Mitchell, recreation supervisor of the Norris Community Center Parks, recreation, and facilities department explains, “Poetic Film’s work, projected on to the architecture of The Norris Center across from Naples City Hall is a thoroughly unique experience of light and sound. The artist has taken their meaningful video with music and adapted it to the custom canvas of our building to a positive reception. It is a joy to experience this one-of-a-kind artistic endeavor.” There is no charge for admission. *Note* As this is outside, the exhibition will be cancelled if it rains.
