OKC Beautiful's Sustainability Social Hour is for those who love the environment and our city. Each session is centered around networking with those who have a passion for and want to learn more about environmental stewardship topics.
Each session features a Q&A with a guest speaker. April's session features Josh Kouri of the Yard by Yard Community Resiliency Project.
Josh is a conservationist, ecologist, and educator from Oklahoma City. After studying wildlife conservation as an undergraduate and plant conservation/ecology in graduate school, he shifted gears and started a small urban farm for a local nonprofit to supply fresh, healthy, local food to their food bank. This experience sparked a love for urban agriculture and urban conservation that led Josh to his current role as an urban soil health specialist for the Oklahoma County Conservation District. He now consults with homeowners and urban farmers on solving conservation challenges, and coordinates the Yard by Yard: Community Resiliency Project statewide. The Yard by Yard program helps individuals and organizations bring beauty, function, and sustainability to their properties through promoting soil health, water conservation, home food production, and wildlife habitat.
All ages are welcome! You do not have to be 21+ to attend.
