Farm Day is a Work Day. It is an opportunity for you to learn farming skills and volunteer for liberation. Farm Day can serve as just another day in community organizing or your very first introduction to working and learning in a Black space. What is Liberation Farm? Liberation Farm is operated by Nadia and Omowale. LF is a space for Black culture to cultivate food and community agriculture. Our space is Unapologetically Black. It means we focus on teaching Black descendants who are less than 1% of the farm-owners in the US. Black farmers produce food on only .5% of the land. Liberation Farm is a 100% vegan group. Please, no animal food products while in space. What is Chester Agricultural Center? Chester Agricultural Center is a non-profit space occupied by regenerative farmers in the "black dirt" region of Orange County, NY. The soil in the black dirt region has some of the highest concentrated organic matter in the U.S. What are some Farm Day Work/Learn Opportunities? : Composting waste Sowing Seeds Clean & Trash Pickup Cultural Bonding Opportunities for Black Folks Allies can learn how to be accomplices Transporting material on the property What have we grown? Liberation Farm has successfully grown beet, greens, cannabis, microgreens, oregano, peppers, spinach, squash and tomato, but we are definitely a beet farm. Over 90% of our crops are beets. Because beets are a superfood and both Nadia and Omowale love beets! Beets taste great! Beets are a sweetener. Beets are a good source of iron, potassium, magnesium, and Vitamin D6. Beets are an amazing blood purifier, heart regulator, skin tightener, and digestive system cleaner. What is the Farm Day contingency plan should we not meet?
