Cozy up near a pony and enjoy as a story is read aloud. Bring (or borrow) a book and take a turn reading to a horse! Meet the HorsePlay staff, and catch a demonstration of HorsePlay's unique, whole-body approach to teaching reading and literacy skills . . yes - with horses in hand! Admission is free with RSVP in advance. $5 / car suggested donation for ay-of guests. OPEN BARN held rain or shine beneath our covered areas. Reading With HorsePlay is an engaging, supportive teaching and tutoring program for readers of all ages and abilities. Together with a pony-partner, students advance through the five critical skills: phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. The movement-based model involves the whole body and mind. The horses bring a social/emotional connection, boosting cognition, retention and personal growth. All activities take place on-the-ground.
