Do you know where your well water comes from or how well water may become contaminated? Want to know when you should have your water tested and what to test for? Join us for a workshop to learn about how private wells and septic systems work, maintenance, and about drinking water quality. Learn how to help ensure a safe drinking water supply for yourself and your family! As part of our workshop, we will be facilitating water screening for total coliform bacteria and E. coli. We will also be covering treatment options if contaminants are found. Screening kits will be provided in the workshop and samples will need to be returned after the event. Sample return dates and drop-off locations in Bay, Calhoun, Jackson and Washington counties will be scheduled for at least one week later. ------------------ Registration Options - Attend in-person or virtually via Zoom Education Only - This ticket is for the educational presentation only. Education & Bacteria Screening - This ticket is for the educational presentation and one water screening for bacteria. Education, Screening, & Lead/Nitrate - This ticket is for the educational presentation, one water screening for bacteria, and testing for lead and nitrate.It is recommended that one person per household purchase the ticket that includes water screening and additional household members purchase the Education Only ticket. Lead and nitrate testing can be added at the end of the workshop, if you would like to learn more about it before deciding on the testing. If you attend virtually and select a ticket for water screening or testing, you will be responsible for picking up at collection kit at a designated UF/IFAS Extension office prior to the sample return date. **Discounted testing is not available for the lead and nitrate testing. ------------------ For persons with disabilities requiring special accommodations, please contact the Extension Office (TDD, via Florida Relay Service, 1-800-955-8771) at least ten working days prior to the class so that proper consideration may be given to the request.
