Join us for a night at the museum. In April, MASS MoCA After Hours will feature soundtracks curated by visual and performing artists. Bring your headphones (and smartphone) and tune in! DESCRIPTION OF MARC SWANSON'S EXHIBIT: Marc Swanson works across diverse media, creating sculptures and environments that explore the relationships between humans, culture, and the natural world. His most ambitious installation to date, A Memorial to Ice at the Dead Deer Disco is inspired by the dioramas found in natural history museums as well as Hudson River School painter Thomas Cole’s (1801–1848) writings on the negative effects of development in the Catskills region. Additionally, Swanson references the disco, which he explores in relation to freedom and mourning during the AIDS crisis. Taken together, these references create an installation that confronts loss and our inability to control human nature and the world around us. Free for members; $5 for Berkshire County residents; $10 for visitors from outside of Berkshire County; or free with museum admission. Book your tickets by clcking HERE RIDE SHARING & CARPOOLING: Q-MOB encourages men coming from South Berkshire County to carpool -- so when you register here, please let us know your home address & phone number and whether you are willing to give someone a ride &/or carpool -- so we can help people who live near one another to carpool.
