His love for jazz and the saxophone started with his earliest memories of listening to his father, Charlie, practicing and playing his tenor saxophone. Larry's formal training began at the University of Iowa, where he was a music minor and studied with Tim O'Dell. Upon returning to Danbury in 1995, he played in combos and the big band at Western CT State University. During that time, he also participated for one semester at the Hartt School of music in Jackie McLean's saxophone master class, and studied with Kris Jensen. He cites his most important teacher as local sax great, Jim LaPine. Over the last 25+ years, he has played in various venues in the Danbury, Hartford, New Haven, and Stamford areas. His main influences include Art Pepper, Dexter Gordon, Jackie McLean, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and, of course, his father, Charlie Haddad. Joe McWilliams - Piano. Joe McWilliams got his start as a professional pianist in the late 1970s, first performing in his mother's trio and later as a solo pianist at the world famous River Café in Brooklyn and at Greene Street in Soho. Trained classically by Ray Therrien and in Jazz by John Mehegan, Joe spent much of the '80s performing in New York and New Haven. Joe has played in 30 countries and has opened for Dave Brubeck, Cab Calloway, The Yellowjackets and many others. Among the many artists he has played/recorded with are Dickey Myers, Sonny Costanzo, Houston Person, Dee Daniels, Cookie Thomas, The Convertibles, the Marcels, Walt Andrus, Mark Preston, Lisa Donovan, Carmine Leggio, Eddie Bert, Brian Torff and Mike Rabinowitz. Jeff Fuller - Bassist An integral part of the Connecticut, New York and international jazz scenes, Fuller has toured worldwide and recorded with saxophonists Lou Donaldson and Paquito D’Rivera. He has played with jazz masters from all styles and eras including such diverse artists as Dizzy Gillespie, Mose Allison, “Papa” Jo Jones, Gerry Mulligan, and Clark Terry. Fuller is one of the most sought after jazz bassists in Connecticut, and currently leads his own ensembles in many venues. In 2014, he was presented with the annual Jazz Haven Award, “For all you have done in presenting and preserving the culture and music of jazz.” Fuller plays a custom-made Upton Concord double bass, and a Ken Smith 6-string bass guitar. Fuller’s trio, featuring Darren Litzie on piano and Ben Bilello on drums, has released five CDs featuring their original music: The Call From Within (2014), Shoreline Blues (2016), Happenstance (2018), Round & Round (2020) and Keep Hope Alive (2022). Drummer Joe Corsello was born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut. Joe has made a lifetime commitment to playing drums and continually striving to reach new highs in the drumming world. Some of Joe’s latest works can be heard on BIG FISH MUSIC’s production of cinematic percussion sounds. Joe studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass., under the watchful eye of drum legend Alan Dawson. After leaving Berklee, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army band and was stationed in Staten Island, N.Y. During his Army stint, Joe studied with drummer Joe Hunt who was living in New York City. After completion of his service obligation, Joe went on tour with the Glen Miller Orchestra under the direction of Buddy DeFranco. Joe remained in New York City as house drummer for Michael’s Pub, backing such jazz artists as Red Norvo, Joe Venuti, Dave McKenna, Hank Jones, Zoot Simms, and pianist, Marian McPartland. Joe’s longtime relationship with jazz producer/writer Michael Cuscuna, brought about the formation of the jazz/rock band, New York Mary, (Arista Records). The band recorded two successful records and toured with the B52′s, Patti Smith, Stevie Wonder and Tony Williams Lifetime band. Joe was the last drummer to perform with legendary saxophonist Sonny Rollins, before Sonny retired, and can be heard on his final studio recording, 'Sonny, Please'. He has also recorded with Marian McPartland, Benny Goodman, Steve Marcus, Ralph Lalama, Mike Moore, Sal Salvadore, Gene Bertoncini, Mike Mainieri, and the list goes on………… https://joecorsello.com/ We're sorry, there are no refunds after tickets have been purchased. In the event of rain, snow, or other forms of weather which prohibit a performance, the performance date will be postponed and rescheduled for another date within a reasonable amount of time. If the new date is postponed, a future alternate date will be picked at the discretion of Bethel Jazz and the musical artist. The ticket holder will be notified of postponements, cancellations, and rescheduled dates via email. Tickets are non-refundable and may be transferred to another person in the event a purchaser can not make the rescheduled date. In the event, an artist cancels a date, and Bethel Jazz is unable to reschedule the artist, Bethel Jazz reserves the right to provide a substitute performer of equal quality without notice to the ticket purchaser. If a date is canceled and not rescheduled, Bethel Jazz will provide a refund (in some cases minus the Eventbrite fee) or credit for another performance at the choice of the ticket holder. Bethel Jazz will always do its best to accommodate for changes in seating, table sizes, or changes to tickets.
