In this 4-hour workshop you will learn strategies for editing your film. You will learn about The 48 festival concept We will view two films that show different editing styles and discuss the PROS & CONS of each in the 48 Hour Film formatWe will discuss the theory & history behind editing in both the linear & non-linear formats. This will include the importance of cuts, transitions and music to help convey your story.We will work with Adobe Premiere with an original timeline to a 48 Hour Film I did in 2014 called "Stiff Love". We will go over file organization, effects usage and have students discuss what could have been done differently with the edit.Get key insights, information, and the practice you need to prepare your team for a successful 2023 submission in The 48 Hour Film Festival - Albuquerque. About The Instructor: Ronald J. Tomaino, Jr. is an award winning media specialist and documentarian who continues to work in both film and television. During his fifteen year career, Ronald has been a director of live newscasts (News 12 New Jersey, KOAT, KRQE News 13) while producing and editing productions for high-profile clients (MTV, VH1, Discovery/Warner Brothers, Steven Michael Quezada). Ronald has been recognized several times for his work including a 2015 New York Emmy Award (“Choices & Chances: NJ Heroin Epidemic”) and a 2022 Best Documentary Short Award at Kevin Smith’s SModcastle Film Festival (“Apartment 38”). Ronald took over as the Albuquerque City Producer for the 48 Hour Film Project in 2022 and is privileged to showcase independent shorts from New Mexico filmmakers.
