The Grover Cleveland Birthplace and the Grover Cleveland Birthplace Memorial Association are proud to announce plans for “Grover Cleveland Week 2023” during the week of March 12-18. Grover Cleveland’s 186th Birthday is Saturday March 18th. Please note that advanced registration for activities on Saturday March 18th is required on EventBrite. 2:30, Louis Picone In an age rife with scandals, corruption, and bossism, Grover Cleveland established himself in a lonely position as an honest politician. His guiding principle was “A Public Office is a Public Trust” and integrity and honesty became his hallmark and currency. In his presentation, Louis Picone will use lively political illustrations and examples from his political life to explore what forces led to Grover Cleveland’s character. In doing so, he hopes to highlight why Grover Cleveland is worthy of our admiration for reasons beyond just being born in Caldwell. Mr. Picone is the award-winning author of "Grant's Tomb: The Epic Death of Ulysses S. Grant and the Making of an American Pantheon", "The President Is Dead! The Extraordinary Stories of the Presidential Deaths, Final Days, Burials, and Beyond" and "Where the Presidents Were Born: The History & Preservation of the Presidential Birthplaces." He is a member of the Authors Guild and the American Historical Association. He holds a Masters in History and also teaches at William Paterson University.
