Description

JUSTICE THAT HEALSTo be effective, safe, and cost-efficient, services in treatment courts and community programs require substantial modifications based on the risk-and-need profiles of participants. Join us for a presentation by the nationally renowned Douglas B. Marlowe, J.D., Ph.D. who will review a typology of risk-and-needs profiles and describe clinical and supervisory adaptations required to treat and manage various sub-types of participants effectively. In the afternoon we will discuss how those working within the criminal justice system, policing, courts, or community are regularly exposed to traumatic events. We will also discuss how the idea or expectation that a person can be exposed to this every day and not be affected is unrealistic. Raul S. Almazar, RN, MA will explain how vicarious trauma may affect you, and the Hon. Stephen Balogh will share practical exercises on how to manage exposure and "live life on life's terms."
