Description

A bit more challenging of an adventure than our trips to Lake Farm Park, our voyage to Brigham County Park is a scenic ramble west of Madison. The ride from The Cargo Bike Shop to Brigham County Park is approximately 30 miles. We will spend the majority of our ride on the Military Ridge State Trail (trail passes required). The path is paved asphalt to start, transitioning to crushed limestone in Verona. The terrain is slightly uphill all the way to the park entrance (approx 750ft elevation gain), but very manageable. There are well-spaced stopping points with easy access to services along the way. In the past, we have stopped in Verona, at Riley Tap, and Mt. Horeb before we arrive at the park. You can ride with the group or ride at your own pace and/or your own schedule. The group site at Brigham Park has plenty of great spots for your tent, a campfire ring, and at least one porta-potty. Water is available at the main campground (we will provide water coolers to have water readily accessible in camp and save trips back and forth). From the campsite, you can ride to Blue Mound Park to use their pool or go for a hike, or stay closer and enjoy Brigham Park's playground and large grassy fields. What's provided: Guided group ride to and from the group campsiteGrill to cook on, coolers with ice, and a water jug for easy water accessGear shuttle, including cooler space, in case you have some bulky/heavy necessities or food that must be kept cold that you don’t want to lug on your bicyclesCampfire wood and s'mores fixingsPiping hot coffee and a selection of pastries on Sunday morningThere is easy car access and parking available if you have part of the family that wants to drive to join us or isn't up for staying the night. This is a family bike camping trip first and foremost, but if don't have kids and want to experience bike camping you are welcome to join. Just be cool with kids being around and the schedule accommodating their needs as far as stops along the way and quiet time at the campsite. Basically, kids of all ages are welcome! If you have questions about if you can do it, if your group will fit in, or really anything please contact us and we'll help figure things out.
