The K’eech’araakaii Workshop (We Are Sewing, Gwich’in Athabascan) will be led by Gwich’in Master Artist Rochelle Adams and will teach participants how to create a beaded scissor case and share traditional Athabascan values through sewing together. Rochelle Adams will share her scissor case pattern and some floral beaded designs. Scissor cases are widely made in the Interior to show respect and display sewing tools.
All skill levels are welcome to attend. We encourage individuals under the age of 21 to attend as well, and have reserved a few tickets for you. If you are under 21, please add the following ticket type to your cart: K’eech’araakaii Workshop (March 20-24) - 21&Under.
The free Workshop will take place at the Alaska Native Heritage Center and materials will be provided thanks to the National Endowment for the Arts. To enroll, students must agree to attend all five days of the Workshop. The Workshop will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on March 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th.
