Description
National Lawyers Guild of Lewis & Clark Law School, National Lawyers Guild of Portland, and OutLaw of Lewis & Clark Law School are thrilled to welcome Ann Garcia (she/her) of the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild, Jose Garcia-Fuerte '23 (he/him) of UndocuLaw Northwest, and Jess Olave '23 (she/her) and Leni Tupper (she/her) of PCC Clear Clinic for a panel discussion and Q&A on immigration as part of the second annual Radical Queer Legal Studies Speaker Series. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The event will feature a panel discussion of 60 minutes followed by a Q&A, and will be live and recorded. Food and soft drinks will be provided. Admission is free. Please RSVP so that we know how much food to provide. Because we're on Eventbrite, RSVP takes the form of reserving a spot and/or claiming a "ticket." You will not be asked to present anything at the door. It's also okay to show up if you do not RSVP; we are just doing pizza math here. With any questions, you can contact Matt Constantino (they/them) at [email protected]. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Radical Queer Legal Studies Speaker Series embraces Angela Davis’ maxim that radical means grasping things at the root, and does so by platforming activists, scholars, and legal practitioners whose work reverberates across intersections of queerness, race, disability, homelessness, and poverty, and towards liberation from the carceral state. The series distinguishes queerness from any one LGBTQ+ taxonomy in favor of a fundamentally intersectional practice: the radical potentialities it greets are always queer, but not always gay. The event image is The Ideologists (1919) by Max Beckmann (1884-1950), and belongs to the public domain.
